The award is for beaches which have excellent water quality, but which are also prized for their natural, unspoilt environment. Applicant sites must be managed in partnership with the local community to be considered for the Green Coast Award.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To be considered for the award beaches applicant sites should be:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Managed carefully and in close consultation with conservation organisations to account for their environmentally sensitive nature as part of a management plan.<\/li>\n<li>Cleaned of litter sensitively without removing natural debris such as driftwood and seaweed.<\/li>\n<li>Consideration should be given to the visual impact of facilities and signs, if they are present, on the surrounding landscape.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The award encourages community involvement through the setting up of <a href=\"http:\/\/cleancoasts.org\/\">Clean Coasts<\/a> Groups. Clean Coasts group formulate their own aims, objectives and activities to clean up and protect their adopted stretch of coastline with the support of An Taisce\u2019s Coastal Programmes Officers.<\/p>\n<p>Applications for a Green Coast Award include an application form, a beach management plan and the submission of water quality sample results. Wexford. The beaches awarded a Green Coast Award for the 2025 bathing season are listed <a href=\"https:\/\/beachawards.ie\/green-coast\/sites\/\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Green Coast Award in Ireland is funded by the Department of the Housing, Local Government and Heritage and F\u00e1ilte Ireland.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Green Coast Award is also run in Northern Ireland by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.keepnorthernirelandbeautiful.org\/\">Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful<\/a>\u00a0and in Wales by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.keepwalestidy.org\/\">Keep Wales Tidy<\/a><\/em>.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;174&#8243;
